Non-SSs Kent Thomas' 87 Monte Carlo SS 'Limited Edition'
This Monte started it's life as a no-optioned straight Monte Carlo. The original owners had a slight mishap with the rear end of a tractor trailor, there-by totaling the car with 17K miles on it. Kent owns the towing company that hauled it away from the accident site. Kent agreed to take the title of the car in exchange for the towing bill, which was under $100. Kent spend the next year restoring and upgrading the Monte, adding every available option to it. He decided to convert the front end to SS style and added side decals that say "Monte Carlo SS Limited Edition". The paint color is GM #074 Flame Red Poly in Base/Clear and Orange Pearl in the clear so the car flip flops in the sun. Under the hood, the original 4.3L V-6 was replaced with a 350 SBC and 4 speed auto tranny from a Camaro. This is one of the best custom SS clone/conversions we've ever seen. Truely unique.Josh Thiel's Blue 81 CL

This 1988 Monte Carlo LS has been a project of John's since 1999. He bought it bone stock rite down to the 14 inch rims with wire hub caps. When he bought the car it looked like it was parked under a tree for a year and a couple of squirrels had taken refuge under the hood. That wasn't the only rescuing he had to do, the car was stolen and recovered in one piece, minus a little MINOR body work. The project was to take it from its original form of a stock Luxury Sport and turn it to a Super Sport. He is almost done. Mike has owned this Monte since October of 2000. It had a 305cid truck motor that would not rev over 4000 if its life depended on it. It had a th350 tranny and an unbelievably tall 2.23 open rear-end. Mike picked up a scrap yard 2.73 posi. Then he started on the interior including painting all the wood, CD player 2-6X9's 2-4X6's and an amp, VDO Tach, oil pressure and water temp. gauges. Then a grant steering wheel. After the interior, he installed summer tires and rims. 15x7 Chevy Ralley Rims w/215/60/15 front and 245/60/15 Rear. The valve seals began to leak so instead of rebuilding the motor he dropped in a 350 0.030 over 330hp-350hp and a 700R4. When he put the tranny in he also installed a B&M Street Stick shifter. Currently he is redoing the headliner and recovering new visors w/mirrors that he scored off a Corsica. He is also looking for a 3.73 Posi and an SS Spoiler.

Left Side, Front, Rear, Exhaust, Engine, Wheel, Dash, Gauges, Front Seats, Rear Seats, RadioAdam Stelmack's Blue 86 LS
Adam got this car in June or 2005 for $500. At the time he had just caught car fever and was looking everywhere for a car to restore. However all the 60's 70's cars were too expensive and he didnt know what he was doing. He came accross this LS by chance. His dad met the owner's daughter while buying tractor parts at their buddy's shop. She said her dad had a monte carlo for sale. Sure enough we went there, and bought it that day for $500. It was faded out charcole grey, sitting in the weeds. Only 36k miles on the odometer. Brought it home that week, and with vines flinging around the driveshaft took it for the first test drive. Since then he's been restoring it/doing the body work to get it painted. In fall 2005 Adam had Ed Bell paint the car a beautiful Atlantic blue pearl, a Chrystler color. Funny thing is he painted it at the cost of a snowblower. Adam got some SS rims/tires from a junkyard for $400. Cleaned and painted them up with autostore rim paint, and they look better then new he thinks! Now he's finishing the interior, and would like to get a 350 to install. The whole car cost Adam less than $1200 to have in the condition its in now. He was originally going to buy it then sell it when somthing better came along, but he's changed his mind. The monte is staying!
