Kent Thomas's 88 Earnhardt Goodwrench SS
This 1988 MCSS was bought on 12/22/00 for $500 and didn't have a straight body panel on, nor was anything in the interior worth saving. Kent replaced the interior with a spare one he had from when he was building the Flame Red Poly "MCSS-LE" (shown below in the Non-SS Exhibit). He spent the next two months doing body work and mechanical repairs on this G-body that was showing 93K Miles. Kent changed the color of the car from red to "Intimidator Black" in the trunk and door jams, as well as the rest of the outside. His hope was that he would have had the car done by 2/18/01 (Black Sunday to you NASCAR fans) but was delayed a week. The car then needed an addition Kent had not planned on. The Memorial on the side windows was done in 24 K Gold Leaf as a fitting tribute to the man who this car was built to honor from the start. The rear bumper cover reads "In Memory Of Dale Earnhardt You Will Always Be Missed...". The car still is going to get a 2" drop spindle treatment to the front end and the rear side and back windows will be tinted. He has put a great deal of work into making this car as close to Dale's 1988 Monte Carlo SS as possible. Kent thinks Dale would be pleased. Tim Eddy's Maroon 86 SS from Indianapolis, IN.
This is Tim's second and current SS. The exterior has been completely customized, but under its skin it's mostly stock (besides replacement of old, worn out parts). Tim bought this car nearly in 1999, and at that time all of the customization has been done. To this day, it still turns heads when it's at car shows or just out on the town. The base paint is completely custom, but resembles the dark burgandy metallic original. All of the pinstriping and graphics are hand air brushed, from front to back. And if you look closely, you'll see ghost flames on the doors. The rims are Cragar draglights, fitted with 10" BFG's in the rear and 8" BFG's in the front. Since purchasing the car, Tim has added a K&N air filter, rebuilt the carb, dropped in a Jasper 305, and added a CD stereo system. You can see pictures of Tim's first SS, in the 85 Notchback Exhibit.

Keiran Wittmaier's 85 SSfrom Ontario, Canada
Keiran's SS is a work in progress as these shots show. It has taken three years and counting to get it this far. It has a 89 IROC T.P.I engine completely rebuilt piece by piece, a 350 turbo trans, 3000 stall, and soon to be 4:11's in the rear. It has taken Keiran a lot of hard work, money, and patience. This is not a easy change over. He's sure a lot of you out there appreciate what he is talking about. He'd like to thank a lot of you other members for your help.. if it wasn't for a lot of you he wouldn't even be close to finished. He is hoping to go at least 13's at the track but right now the engine is pretty much stock, headers and fresh ready to go! If it can't go that fast... Nitrous kit... maybe 150hp shot?

Leo & Susan Sigouin's 84 SS from Maine.
This is their 84SS before they foolishly sold it to a friend's son. They purchased it back last fall and they are starting to restore it now. They will be putting the 305HO back into it, fixing the roof from sunroof leak and are going to put Centerline Starlite wheels with BF Goodrich T/A's. The SS has 110K Miles on it. They had it painted in 1991, it was stripped to bare metal and windows were removed. Not a bit of filler in this car, which is very unusual in the good ole State of Maine. They didn't put the original blue decals back on, but added the red SS decals to just the doors and trunk. They can't wait to hit the road in it again.

Wade's SS has 50K orignal miles. All factory drivetrain except for K7amp;N and Flowmasters. The wheels are Camaro IROC's and will be replaced with Centerlines 17"x8" rim. Wade plans on dropping in the '92 350 and 700r4 he is currently prepping. The plans include forged rotating assembly, Trickflow heads, Speed Density TPI unit, and one mean paxton lung. The goal is to reach boost at 12 psi on pump gas without breaking parts. Its expesive but way to achievable to pass up. Its been a dream of Wade's since he started wrenching on cars to build a blown TPI motor that wasn't sitting between the fender wells of an F-car. He thinks he's found the right ride.

He figures not too many people can say they had a car like this in high school.

Nick Monroe's Black 84 SS
This SS was put together by Nick and his father. They bought the car when Nick was 15 years old for $500 and started from there. Since Nick was inexperienced they (mostly his dad) desided to just rebuild a 305 that they had in their shed. They put 2 new doors on, 2 new fenders, a new hood, new nose, bumper, and an airbox and light brackets. They then had the seats reupholstered and had white leather on the side of the seat to match the top half of the door panels which are white. Nick got the door panes and power windows out of an 83 SS. He put in a new dash, new carpet, Pioneer deck, tach, new rear deck, and new back seat along with a new headliner. He also put in a trunk release to make life alittle easier. The car has almost 60K miles on it. The heads on the engine where shaved and a valve job was done as well. It has a new intake and original carb. Nick put a set of Hooker Super Comp headers on that go to a straight pipe and then to dual Flowmaster 40 series Deltaflows. The car is lowered in the front with Belltech 2' drop spindles. Nick plans a 383 stroker with a fuel cell in the trunk along with a bottle of NOS, posi 373 and headers with true dual back to 2 Flowmaster 40 series original which will be cut off right before the rearend.

Jesse Walter's Orange 87 Aerocoupe
Jesse bought his Aerocoupe in '93 for around $7000 from a friend who had installed a 425hp 350 and a Art Carr 200r4 in it. It was white and in pretty good shape. The car was running 12.60 in the quarter mile when he bought it. After about a year Jesse had a 600 hp 406 built that ran on 93 octane, installed a 12 bolt rear, th400 trans, custom made headers and re-painted the car bright white. Over the next 6 years he drove the car aprox. 10-15k miles raced it at the track and on the street running a best of 11.00 on the motor and 10.50 on 125hp nos. In late 2001 Jesse decided the car needed a face lift. He stripped the car, installed a custom chrome molly roll cage and painted it House of Color Tangelo Pearl Orange. He also replaced all rubber and weatherstripping. Just when he thought he was done, Jesse had a small engine problem that turned into a big one. The aftermath is that now he basically has a brand new 406 again. These pictures do not really do the paint job justice. In the sun the pearl orange really looks cool.

Joe Conlin's White 86 SS
Stock 305 with 108K miles, 3.73 open end rear. This SS was rotting away in a yard for over 2 years because of a bad trans. Joe finally had to knock on the door and see if the owner would possibly sell the car and save it from its cruel punishment. The car had been repainted in a dark red by the previous owner, and not a very good job. After Joe purchased the vehicle for a whopping $1500, he threw in a transmission, tuned her up, painted the rims and sent her off to the body shop to get her back to her original white color, some 2002 monte SS emblems and Joe was cruising. The interior was in surprisingly good shape.

Michael Bruce's 88 SS
Michael is the 3rd owner (4th if you include his Dad) of this 1988 Monte Carlo SS. It has a vintage 1998 350 smallblock chevy 350, with 906 casting vortec heads. The cam is very small (.431 .451 lift, 197 206 duration @ .050 roller cam, goes in Ram Jet 350) and creates a whole lot of torque, and as he has the stock exhaust manifold still, a larger cam would only hurt. 40 series Flowmasters set the tone of the car. Michael runs a 200-4R that has had some work done to it, had a performance rebuild done and really snaps the car when shifting. A 2600 Stall Converter provides the fluid coupling between the flexplate and the input shaft. Then the rest of the car is mostly stock. He has a stock 3.73 Posi rear, stock style Hotchkis trailing arms, stock rims, and so forth. From the images you can see the Lauren Engineering Ground Effects package. His only (flimsy) defense in this matter is that the rockers were rusting, so he covered it up. He wishs he had never done it, but good or bad, it does set my car apart from everyone else's. Michael goes by the nick name "lazygearhead" on the Message Board.
